Blind Despite Seeing

I walked out feeling depressed,
As if it was all for nothing,
It was not as I intended,
Yet the result was rather startling.

Amidst the busy city I walked,
Rethinking; 'What could have gone wrong?'
This feeling of disdain has been unlocked,
But suddenly realisation hits me like a song.

Over there is a man who can barely walk,
But confidence glinted from his eyes,
With his thumb struck forward and outward,
His spirit was high for he was a champion.

Further down was a man on a wheelchair,
He would be running hadn't he a pair of legs,
But he wheeled down the road smiling,
Had the adrenaline rushing over his determination.

Reaching home,
An old lady sat on a curb,
A tissue in exchange for a bite of food,
Smiling regardless of the little attention she receives.

I find that life is not a melody,
Where you hum the tunes and it comes out sound,
For when you're down there are others worst,
So trust God alongside your every effort.
